Okay this has been in my head ever since I heard this question asked in one of my local radio station, and the answer that many have faked an accent to land a job, get a date, and others. One mother's faked accent even go to her son, who speaks in an accent at school. The British accent was also the popular accent to use by the callers to the radio station. I haven't done this, but I might be tempted to do it just for kicks. Anyways I want to know if you have faked an accent before to get something (or someone) you wanted, what/who was that "something"/"someone", and what was the accent you used. If you haven't, ever thought of using a fake accent?

I pretended to have a southern accent wherever I happened to be while driving through the south on my way to Live Earth this summer...I didn't want people to automatically dislike me because I was from California. And I was pleased when I was eating at a Cracker Barrel in Kentucky and the adorable bubbly server asked if I used to work there because I looked familiar.

Well, I haven't faked an accent..But I'll start speaking Spanish when we valet sometimes when my friends & I go out so that I can get a discounted valet price..(I'm Asian..so they don't
expect me to speak Spanish..I haggle & I get a lower price.. works some times 
)

Nah, I 'm not good at them. However I have picked up a slight irish accent on certain words because my (sort-of) aunt has a very strong Irish accent (I think she is from somewhere near Dublin.) People laugh because while I have a lot of irish heritage in me (about 80%), the only family member w/ an accent is my god-mother's brother's wife. It's not something I tried to pick-up however it's funny when all of a sudden certain words come out w/ an irish sound.

Since my native language is spanish, there are quite a lot accents i can use. Sometimes, just for fun i do a quite decent Puertorican accent and i absolutely adore Spain´s accent. Sometimes i imitate accents from my own country (e.g. Córdoba province has a a very distinct, highly musical accent that i love). I also love imitating the British accent.. it´s so sharp and great.

No, but sometimes I pick up accents when talking with someone who has one. I don't mean to, it just sort of happens.

When i went to Scotland...i tended to pick up a bit of the Scottish accent here and there. But i have to say...they loved my "California girl" speak...so i would lay it on thick and they
would eat it up. They love to hear accents over there just like we love to hear British and Scottish accents here. I never did it to get something i wanted or a job...just for fun. I suck at
British accents...they always end up sounding Australian.

I dont do that. I only sometimes do my awful puerto rican accent when im talking to my bf. hahahaa.
